{"id":180,"date":"2018-05-22T17:06:56","date_gmt":"2018-05-22T17:06:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bedcote.com\/?p=180"},"modified":"2018-05-22T17:06:56","modified_gmt":"2018-05-22T17:06:56","slug":"stourbridge-day-of-dance-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bedcote.com\/index.php\/2018\/05\/22\/stourbridge-day-of-dance-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Stourbridge day of dance 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Stourbridge gets its dancing shoes on<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More than 100 dancers will be performing around Stourbridge on Saturday June 2 as Bedcote Morris hosts the town\u2019s fourth annual Day of Dance.<\/p>\n<p>Bedcote, Stourbridge\u2019s own Cotswold Morris side, is keen to celebrate the flourishing local dance scene, with free performances all around the town.<\/p>\n<p>A wide variety of styles will be on show, including Cotswold, Border and North-West Morris, step clogging, belly dancing and Irish dancing.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Burton, squire of Bedcote Morris, said: \u201cOur Day of Dance is now firmly established on the local dance calendar and has attracted a lot of interest around the Midlands.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are particularly pleased this year to welcome Mr Wilkins\u2019 Shilling from Bath and Styx Border Morris from Stroud, along with many of our more local friends.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are expecting ten dance sides, which will mean more than 100 dancers and musicians showing that traditional dance is alive and kicking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Performances will take place from 11am-3pm at the junction of Lower High Street and Coventry Street, at the entrance to the Rye Market in the High Street and in St Thomas\u2019s Church Community Garden in Market Street.<\/p>\n<p>Local dancers taking part will include Castle Clog, and the Gallagher O\u2019Connor Academy of Irish Dance.
